Fuel Injection System - 2.5L TBI: Description

The Throttle Body Injection (TBI) system is a single injector system that introduces fuel into throttle body from above the throttle plate. The fuel injector, located within the throttle body, is controlled by the Electronic Control Unit (ECU).

The ECU is a sealed microprocessor that processes input information from a variety of sensors and switches to get an accurate picture of engine operation. Based on these inputs, the ECU sends output signals to control air/fuel ratio and ignition timing depending on current engine operating conditions. ECU also controls engine idle speed, emission control systems, upshift indicator light (M/T only) and A/C compressor clutch.
