Fuel Pump - Electric: Description
The 2.5L TBI and 4.0L MPFI fuel injection systems use a gear/rotor type fuel pump driven by a permanent magnet electric motor. Both fuel pumps are integral with the fuel sending unit. The fuel/pump sender assembly is installed inside the fuel tank. TBI and MPFI fuel pumps are similar in design and operation. However, they are not the same and cannot be interchanged. See Fig 1 .
