Throttle Body

Filtered air from the air cleaner enters the intake manifold through the throttle body. Throttle body is mounted on the intake manifold, but does not control the intake of fuel. Throttle body contains an air by-pass passage (used to supply air at idle) and a throttle valve (used to supply air for above idle conditions). The throttle position sensor (TPS) and idle speed stepper (ISS) motor are attached to the throttle body. See Figure . The throttle bodies used on automatic and manual transmissions are different and cannot be interchanged.
