Verification Test SP-VER, Cruise Control Verification
Reconnect and reassemble all previously tested components. If Single Board Engine Controller (SBEC) has been changed, perform the following:
- If vehicle is equipped with factory theft alarm, start vehicle at least 20 times so alarm system may be activated when desired.
- Write vehicle's odometer mileage to memory location within replacement SBEC. This will enable new SBEC to operate Emission Maintenance Reminder (EMR) light properly. See MAINTENANCE REMINDER (EMR) MILEAGE TRANSFER under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.
- On all models, connect DRB-II to engine diagnostic connector and erase faults.
To ensure no other fault remains, perform the following:
- Road test vehicle at a speed above 35 MPH. Put cruise controlON/OFF switch in ON position. Press and release SET switch. If cruise control did not engage, repair is not complete. Check all pertinent TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS (TSBs) and return to TEST SP-1A , if necessary.
- Press and release SET switch. If vehicle speed did not increase by 2 MPH, repair is not complete. Check all pertinent TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS (TSBs) and return to TEST SP-1A , if necessary.
- Press and release brake pedal. If cruise control did not disengage, repair is not complete. Check all pertinent TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS (TSBs) and return to TEST SP-1A , if necessary.
- Bring vehicle speed back up to 35 MPH. Press RESUME/ACCEL switch. If cruise control did not resume previously set speed, repair is not complete. Check all pertinent TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS (TSBs) and return to TEST SP-1A , if necessary.
- Hold down SET switch. If vehicle did not decelerate, repair is not complete. Check all pertinent TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS (TSBs) and return to TEST SP-1A , if necessary.
- Ensure vehicle speed is greater than 35 MPH and release SET switch. If vehicle did not adjust to new vehicle speed, repair is not complete. Check all pertinent TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS (TSBs) and return to TEST SP-1A , if necessary.
- Turn ON/OFF switch to OFF position. If cruise control did not disengage, repair is not complete. Check all pertinent TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS (TSBs) and return to TEST SP-1A , if necessary.
- If vehicle successfully passed all previous tests, cruise control system is now functioning correctly. Repair is complete.
