Description & Operation: Notes

The speed (cruise) control system is electronically controlled and vacuum operated. System is electronically controlled by Powertrain Control Module (PCM). System consists of PCM, servo, speed control switch, vacuum reservoir, dual function brake switch, vehicle distance (speed) sensor, and park/neutral position switch (automatic transmission). System controls are located on the steering wheel and consist of ON/OFF, RESUME/ACCEL, and SET/DECEL or SET/COAST switches. The individual switches cannot be replaced. An indicator light (LED), located on the switch assembly, is illuminated when the speed control system is engaged. If one individual switch fails, or the indicator light fails, the entire switch module must be replaced.
