Test 12C - Bus Short To Battery

  1. Turn ignition off. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between Compass Mini-Trip Computer (CMTC) connector, terminals No. 3 (Violet/Brown wire) and No. 4 (Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Violet/Brown wire and Yellow wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
  2. Measure resistance between CMTC connector, terminals No. 4 (Yellow wire) and No. 5 (White/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Yellow wire and White/Black wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance on CMTC connector, terminal No. 2 (Black wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace CMTC.
NOTE: For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  and WIRING DIAGRAM  . After each repair, perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
