Performance Characteristics
When ignition is turned on, a popping sound and slight brake pedal movement may be noticed. When vehicle is first driven off, a humming sound may be heard and/or felt when vehicle reaches approximately 12 MPH. These conditions are normal.
During an ABS stop, groaning, popping and/or ticking may be heard inside passenger compartment. If ABS operation occurs during hard braking, some pulsation may be felt in vehicle body, due to suspension movement during hard braking. At the end of an ABS stop, ABS will turn off when vehicle speed reaches 6 MPH or less. When ABS turns off because of vehicle speed being 6 MPH or less, or ABS is no longer needed, a slight pedal drop may be felt. Stopping on a bumpy road may cause ABS to activate because of wheel hop caused by bumps.
Some rear wheel slip is desired for maximum braking performance. Rear wheel slip may be heard as a "chirping" sound depending on road surface. Do not interpret this sound as total rear wheel lock-up. The "chirping" sound is considered normal under most conditions. Light, patched tire marks may be left on pavement after an anti-lock stop.
