Instrument Cluster Test 2A - All Gauges Not Operating
NOTE:
Perform INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TEST 1A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL
article. After each repair, perform TEST VER-1A
.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
- Using scan tool, select BCM, then MONITOR DISPLAY. Select CCD BUS PCM STATUS. If scan tool displays NO RESP for all CCD bus PCM status monitors, go to VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS TEST 10A . If scan tool does not display NO RESP, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, select ELECTRO/MECH CLUSTER. Select ACTUATION SELF TEST. Observe gauges operate through calibration points. See GAUGE CALIBRATION POINTS table. If gauges operate correctly, go to next step. If gauges do not operate correctly, replace instrument cluster circuit board.
- Ensure ignition is on. Using scan tool, select ELECTRO/MECH CLUSTER, then MONITOR DISPLAY. Select CCD BUS INFO. Observe cluster type. If scan tool displays NO RESP, go to next step. If scan tool does not display NO RESP, replace Powertrain Control Module (PCM). PCM is located in engine compartment, near Power Distribution Center (PDC).
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Black 24-pin connector. BCM is located under left side of dash. See Figure in CHIME TEST 3A. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 18 (Orange wire). If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Orange wire. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, replace BCM.
