Power Window Test 6A - Inoperative Window Switch Illumination

NOTE: Perform POWER WINDOW TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Refer to POWER WINDOWS article. After each repair, perform TEST VER-1A  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
  1. Turn ignition on. If driver's door module switch does not illuminate, replace driver's door module. If driver's door module switch illuminates, ensure window lockout switch is in the OPEN position. If passenger's door module switch does not light, replace passenger's door module. If passenger's door module switch lights, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect appropriate rear door window switch. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, measure voltage at terminal No. 3 (Orange/Red wire or Orange/Dark Green wire on right rear door window switch) on rear door window switch connector. If voltage is more than 2 volts, replace door window switch. If voltage is 2 volts or less, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, backprobe terminal No. 10 (Orange wire or Orange/Dark Blue wire on passenger's side) on door module 12-pin connector. If voltage is less than 2 volts, replace door module. If voltage is 2 volts or more, repair open in Orange wire or Orange/Dark Blue wire.
