Windshield Wiper Test 2A - Repairing Open Intermittent Wiper Relay Circuit

NOTE: Perform POWER WINDOW TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Refer to WIPER/WASHER SYSTEM article. After each repair, perform TEST VER-1A  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
  1. Remove intermittent wiper relay from power distribution center. Power distribution center is located in engine compartment. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between component terminals No. 85 and 86 on wiper relay. See Figure under VTSS TEST 4A. If resistance is not 65-85 ohms, replace wiper relay. If resistance is 65-85 ohms, go to next step.
  2. Connect a jumper wire between terminal No. 85 (Yellow/Light Green Wire) on wiper relay connector and ground. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) White 24-pin connector. BCM is located under left side of dash. See Figure in CHIME TEST 3A. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between terminal No. 23 (Yellow/Light Green wire) on BCM White 24-pin connector and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BCM. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Yellow/Light Green wire.
