Description & Operation
Power windows are a standard feature on Grand Cherokee. The power window system allows all door windows to be opened or closed by operating a switch on trim panel for each door or master switch on driver's door panel. The master switch can open or close any window and has the ability to lock-out passenger window operations by disabling all passenger door window switches. Driver's window also has auto-down function, by depressing driver window switch to second detent position, and is canceled by moving the switch to any other position.
Power windows can be operated for up to 45 seconds after ignition is turned off, or until a front door is opened, whichever comes first. Front door power window switches and power window lock-out switch are integral to Driver Door Module (DDM) or Passenger Door Module (PDM), respectively. Modules communicate via Programmable Communications Interface (PCI) data bus network. Rear door power window switches are stand alone units.
