No PCI Bus Messages Received
Monitored & Set Condition
- When Monitored: With the ignition in the Run/Start position.
- Set Condition: The Instrument Cluster detects no PCI bus messages for 4 continuous seconds. The VF will display NO BUS. The Instrument Cluster will illuminate the ABS, Fuel, SKIM, Airbag and MIL warning indicators. All guage needles will default to the lowest indication.
Possible Causes:
- No Response PCI Bus
- Intermittent Condition
- No Response PCI Bus Instrument Cluster
- Instrument Cluster
Testing
- Turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII(R), attempt to communicate with other modules on the PCI Bus. Was the DRBIII(R) able to communicate with other modules? If yes, go to next step. If no, refer to COMMUNICATION in DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION or SYMPTOM IDENTIFICATION tables for the related symptom(s).
- Turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII(R), select System Monitors, then J1850 Module Scan. Does the DRBIII(R) display MIC PRESENT on the BUS? If yes, go to next step. Refer to BUS +/- SIGNALS OPEN OR NO RESPONSE FROM INSTRUMENT CLUSTER in COMMUNICATION.
- With the DRBIII(R), erase DTC's. Cycle the ignition and wait approximately one minute. With the DRBIII(R), read DTC's. Did this DTC reset? If yes, replace the Instrument Cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - LIBERTY article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST . If no, the condition is not present at this time. Monitor DRBIII(R) parameters while wiggling the related wire harness. Refer to any Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) that may apply. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connector terminals.
NOTE:
When the Instrument Cluster detects no PCI Bus, the VF will display "no bus".
