Diagnosis And Testing - Power Window Switch

The diagnosis found here applies only to the rear door power window switches. If the problem being diagnosed is an inoperative power window switch illumination lamp, but the power window switch operates as designed, replace the faulty rear door power window switch (verify the power lockout switch is not actuated).  For complete circuit diagrams, refer to the appropriate wiring article. The wiring information includes wiring diagrams, proper wire and connector repair procedures, details of wire harness routing and retention, connector pinout information and location views for the various wire harness connectors, splices and grounds.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  2. Remove the power window switch from the rear door trim panel. Refer to REMOVAL  .
  3. Check the rear door power window switch continuity as shown in the Rear Door Power Window Switch Continuity chart (Refer to Fig 1 ). If OK, refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING - WINDOW MOTOR  . If not OK, replace the faulty rear door power window switch.
