Section 20 (Overhead Console): Troubleshooting: Temperature

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Jeep Liberty. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The CMTC receives Programmable Communications Interface (PCI) bus messages from the Body Control Module (BCM) for all displayed information except the compass display. If a dash (-) is displayed, the CMTC is not receiving a PCI bus message from the BCM. To diagnose the PCI bus line and the BCM, see BODY CONTROL MODULES - LIBERTY article.

If the CMTC displays a temperature more than 130°F (54°C), check for a short circuit between the temperature sensor and the BCM. If the CMTC displays a temperature less than -67°F (-40°C), check for an open circuit between the temperature sensor and the BCM.
