PLUG, Glow: Removal: Removal
- Disconnect negative battery cable.
- Remove engine cover.
- Remove the four retainers and the engine silencer.
- Loosen clamp and disconnect air tube from air control valve.
- Remove the serpentine belt. Refer to BELT, Serpentine, Removal .
- Disconnect the positive battery cable.
- Remove the battery.
- Remove the generator. Refer to GENERATOR, Removal .
- Remove bolt securing high pressure feed tube at intake manifold.
- Raise and secure the vehicle. Refer to Hoisting, Standard Procedure .
- Remove the belly pan.
- On 4x4 models, remove the front axle. Refer to Removal .
- Remove fuel rail. Refer to RAIL, Fuel, Removal or RAIL, Fuel, Removal .
- Disconnect glow plug wiring harness (2) at all four glow plugs (1).CAUTION:
After plug removal, do not bend, knock, or drop the glow plugs while handling (any mechanical impact may damage the glow plug).
- Use a socket to loosen all the glow plug(s). After loosening, attach a flexible tool such as a rubber hose to remove glow plug from cylinder head.
