Tray, Battery: Installation: Installation

WARNING:

The battery negative and positive cable polarity are different from the gasoline engine equipped vehicles to the diesel engine equipped vehicles. Please note the location of the positive and negative cables prior to service of the battery or related components.

NOTE:

Left hand drive gasoline engine shown in illustration, left hand drive diesel similar. Right hand drive gasoline and diesel similar with the battery and related components packaged on the left side of the engine compartment.

  1. Position the battery tray (4) into the engine compartment.
  2. Loosely install the one nut (3) and four bolts (2 and 5) securing the battery tray (4) to the vehicle.
  3. Tighten the nut to 10.5 N.m (93 in. lbs.).
  4. Tighten the bolts to 10.5 N.m (93 in. lbs.).

  5. Install the passenger side wheel lining (2) retainer (1).
  6. Install the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM). Refer to MODULE, TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER (TIPM), INSTALLATION .
  7. Install the battery. Refer to BATTERY, INSTALLATION .

  8. Install the air cleaner assembly (1) to the battery tray by pushing down on the air cleaner to fully engage the mounting pins.
  9. Connect the fresh air tube (2) to the air cleaner assembly (1).
  10. Connect the battery negative cable.
