SERVICE PROCEDURE
OPERATING CYCLE
Operation 1 - Engine control unit (ECM) software update
Update the software of the engine control unit (ECM) operating as described.
- Reprogramming procedure
- Post-reprogramming learning procedures (only for 1.4 Turbo MultiAir engines)
- Engine Control Unit reprogramming procedure
Using wiTECH, updated to the latest software release , select the vehicle view (Fig. 1) and then control unit (ECM - Engine Control Module) (A) and carry out the reprogramming intervention.
NOTE: The vehicle battery must be in full charge conditions or supported by a battery charger/booster battery so as to ensure a rated voltage of 12 V during reprogramming.NOTE: If the reprogramming process is interrupted/aborted, it must be restarted.IMPORTANT: Carefully read and perform all the instructions and warning messages displayed during reprogramming; do not continue with the following messages without performing what is required at each step.- Reset all errors (DTCs) generated in other modules as a result of reprogramming. At the end of the reprogramming procedure, all the DTCs are automatically displayed for being reset.
- Post-reprogramming learning procedures (only for 1.4 Turbo MultiAir engines).
- On wiTECH select the vehicle view (Fig. 2) and then ECM (Engine Control Module) (A); the screen of Fig. 3 will be displayed.
- Select Misc. Functions (B - Fig. 3).
- Select and sequentially perform the procedures shown in the screen (1), in the same order.IMPORTANT: For each procedure, carefully read and perform all the displayed instructions; do not proceed with the following operations without performing what is required at each step.
- For each selected item a window will be displayed, an example is shown in Fig. 4, with the necessary conditions. Once this is obtained, press Continue and follow the instructions.
- On wiTECH select the vehicle view (Fig. 2) and then ECM (Engine Control Module) (A); the screen of Fig. 3 will be displayed.

OWNER NOTIFICATION AND SERVICE SCHEDULING
All involved vehicle owners should be notified of the service requirement by their Dealer. Owners are requested to schedule appointments for this service. A sample copy of the owner notification letter is attached.
VEHICLE LISTS, GLOBAL RECALL SYSTEM, VIP AND DEALER FOLLOW UP
All involved vehicles have been entered into the DealerCONNECT Global Recall System (GRS) and Vehicle Information Plus (VIP) for dealer inquiry as needed.
GRS provides involved Dealers with an updated VIN list of their incomplete vehicles. Completed vehicles are removed from GRS within several days of repair claim submission.
Dealers should perform this repair on all unsold vehicles before retail delivery. Dealers should also use the VIN list to follow up with all owners to schedule appointments for this repair.
