Sensor, Boost Pressure: Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Jeep Cherokee. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

When the intake manifold pressure is low (high vacuum) sensor voltage output is 0.25-1.8 volts at the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). When the intake manifold pressure is high due to turbo boost, sensor voltage output is 2.0-4.7 volts. The sensor receives a 5-volts reference from the PCM. Sensor ground is also provides by the PCM. The PCM uses boost pressure combined with intake air temperature to determine the volume of air entering the engine and regulate the pressure of the variable geometry turbine in order to ensure optimum engine performance in all operating conditions. The boost pressure sensor is regulate the pressure of the variable geometry turbine in order to ensure optimum engine performance in all operating conditions and to regulate fuel injection duration.
