Solenoid, Variable Valve Timing: Removal: Right

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the resonator. For 2.4L Refer to REMOVAL , or for 3.2L Refer to RESONATOR, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL .

  3. Mark the intake VVT solenoid (2) and the exhaust VVT solenoid (4) with a paint pen or equivalent so that they may be installed in their original locations.
  4. Disconnect the wiring harness connector (1) from the VVT solenoid.
  5. Remove the VVT solenoid mounting bolts (3).

  6. Pull the VVT solenoid from the cylinder head cover.
    NOTE:

    The seal (1) can be reused if it is not damaged.
