Brake System Module (BSM)

BRAKE SYSTEM MODULE (BSM)

Refer to COMPONENT INDEX .

The BSM uses directional wheel speed sensors to indicate the speed of the vehicle and if the vehicle is moving in forward or reverse.

All AEB situations, the CADM sends deceleration requests and values for the ABA system to the BSM for processing. The BSM responds to the requests, and when honoring the ABA event, adjusts the vehicle deceleration to the value that is greater between the drivers request and the CADMs request. If the drivers request is great, the BSM adjusts to the driver requested deceleration. Otherwise it will use the CADMs value for adjusting.

The BSM is responsible for activating the brake lamps if the AEB deceleration requirements are the brake torque requirements are met.

During an ignition cycle, the total number of brake jerks or AEB system evens is limited to a maximum of four events. If any brake event counter has reached four, one second after the completion of the fourth brake event, the CADM changes the DSM touchscreen configuration to "Active Braking OFF". The AEB system returns to the last known active braking setting at the next ignition cycle.
