Sensor, Coolant Temperature: Removal

CAUTION:

Do not loosen radiator draincock with system hot and pressurized. Serious burns from coolant can occur.

CAUTION:

To prevent coolant pooling in the injector bore(s), place an absorbent towel in the valley and over the injector bores. If coolant is accidentally spilled over top of the engine, apply compressed air into each injector bore until all coolant is visually evacuated.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the engine cover. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL .
  3. Drain the cooling system. Refer to COOLING/STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  4. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor harness connector (1).

  5. Remove the engine coolant temperature sensor (1).
