TITLE: Overheating, Cooling Fan Fuse Blown

CONDITION

Some 1998-2000 Sephia engine overheating concerns may be caused by a blown 20 amp slow-blow Cooling Fan Fuse. If the fuse blows, coolant temperature will increase, especially in stop-and-go city driving, or during prolonged idle operation.

CAUSE

When first energized, the cooling fan may momentarily draw 30 to 50 amps then drop to approximately 15-19 amps during normal cooling operation. The initial current draw may cause the fuse to open.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

If the 20 amp slow-blow Cooling Fan Fuse blows, it is okay to replace it with a 30 amp slow-blow fuse.
