Front Impact Sensor (FIS): Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Kia Optima and 2008 Kia Magentis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The front impact sensor (FIS) is installed below the hood latch. It is a remote sensor that detects acceleration due to a collision at its mounting location. The primary purpose of the Front Impact Sensor (FIS) is to provide an indication of a collision. The Front Impact Sensor (FIS) sends acceleration data to the SRSCM.
