Initialization And Saving Learnt

CAUTION: PTM cannot be initialized and set up by using diagnostic tool (KDS). Initialize and set up PTM manually.

Initialization and saving of learnt value are performed to reduce the error margin of parts composing the PTM. In other words, if the drive unit or trunk panel has been replaced with a new one, the trunk opening angle will be different due to error margin of parts. In this case, perform initialization to recognize the opening and closing angle of trunk and set up initial value while completely opening and closing the trunk.

By initializing the PTM, the error margins in trunk opening angle can be reduced after replacing the parts. The saved initial values are memorized permanently.

  1. To replace the PTM unit
    1. Install a new PTM unit in the car and connector.
    2. Close the trunk manually.
    3. Open the trunk by using the outside handle switch to complete initialization with a buzzer sound.
  2. To replace parts other than PTM unit that can affect PTM:
    1. Press the trunk inner switch.
    2. Press the trunk outside handle switches at the same time.
    3. Press for 3 seconds or more until a buzzer sound is issued once.
    4. Close the trunk manually.
    5. Open the trunk by using the outside handle switch to complete initialization with a buzzer sound.
    NOTE:
    1. Do not hold or stop the trunk while saving the parameters. Ensure that the parameters are saved during power opening and closing operations by the PTM (Power Trunk Module) control.
    2. The safety function is still activated while the parameters are being saved.
    3. Once saved, the parameters will not be erased even if the battery is discharged. Hence, there is no need to repeat the above process after charging the battery.
    4. If the above process is repeated after saving parameters, the new parameters will be saved in the power trunk module.
