Repair Procedures: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 Kia Sorento. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: If replacement of the bracket or extension wire of BSD unit is required, it is recommended to surely replace the defective part only with a new one, not the whole BSD unit.
  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the rear bumper.

    (Refer to Body - "REAR BUMPER COVER ")

  3. Disconnect the BSD connector (A) from the BSD unit.

  4. Remove the BSD assembly (A) after loosening the mounting nuts.

    Tightening torque:  3.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.4 - 0.6 kgf.m, 2.9 - 4.3 lb.ft)

    NOTE: Be careful not to damage the bracket when removing the BSD unit.

    Information 

    In the following cases, replace the extension wire or bracket. 

    1. If the bracket is physically deformed or damaged.
      • Remove the bracket (A) from the BSD unit by loosening the screws.

    2. If the connector or wire is damaged.
      • Remove the extension wire (A) after separating the mounting clip.
