Repair Procedures: Removal
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
This working procedure does not require engine removal.
CAUTION:
In case of removing the high pressure fuel pump, high pressure fuel pipe, delivery pipe, and injector, there may be injury caused by leakage of the high pressure fuel. So don't do any repair work right after engine stops.
NOTE:
- Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.
- To avoid damage, unplug the wiring connectors carefully while holding the connector portion.
Information
Mark all wiring and hoses to avoid misconnection.
- Disconnect the battery negative (-) terminal.
- Remove the engine cover.

- Remove the oil level gauge.
(Refer to " Removal and Installation ")
- Remove the drive belt and water pump belt.
(Refer to " Removal ")
- Remove the drive belt tensioner.
(Refer to " Removal And Installation ")
- Remove the crankshaft damper pulley.
(Refer to " Removal And Installation ")
- Remove the engine room under cover.
(Refer to " Removal And Installation ")
- Drain the engine oil.
(Refer to " Replacement ")
- Remove the A/C compressor mounting bolts.
(Refer to " Removal ")
- Remove the A/C compressor mounting bracket (A).
Tightening torque:
19.6 - 23.5 N.m (2.0 - 2.4 kgf.m, 14.4 - 17.3 lb.ft)
- Remove the oil pan.

- Install the jack to the edge of ladder frame.NOTE:
- Put the rubber block between the jack and lower crankcase to avoid damaging the lower crankcase.
- Be careful not to damage the balance shaft and oil pump.
- Remove the engine mounting support bracket and the engine mounting bracket.

- Remove the cylinder head cover.
(Refer to " Removal ")
- Disconnect the engine ground cable (A).
Tightening torque:
7.8 - 9.8 N.m (0.8 - 1.0 kgf.m, 5.8 - 7.2 lb.ft)
- Remove the engine support bracket (A).
Tightening torque:
39.2 - 44.1 N.m (4.0 - 4.5 kgf.m, 28.9 - 32.5 lb.ft)
- Remove the E-CVVT cover (A).NOTE: Be careful not to apply the force on the connector brush after removing the E-CVVT cover.
- Remove the variable force solenoid valves (VFS) (A).NOTE: When removing the timing chain cover, be sure to remove the variable force solenoid valve (VFS) first.
- Remove the timing chain cover (A).NOTE: When removing the timing chain cover, be careful not to damage the contact surfaces of cylinder block, cylinder head and lower crankcase.
