Steering Column Service Precautions

Front wheel must be in straight ahead position prior to removing any steering linkage components. Steering wheel must be removed to prevent cruise control spiral cassette being wound up or damaged if the steering linkage is inadvertently moved or rotated

After installing the steering linkage components, the wheel must be re-positioned straight ahead before installing the steering wheel, DO NOT reconnect the multi-plug to the cassette or fit the trim pad at this stage. If, after the vehicle has been driven, it is found that the steering wheel requires re-positioning, remove the wheel. Re-align the drive pegs on the cruise control cassette by slightly rotating the upper part of the cassette in the appropriate direction until the pegs lie horizontal to the steering column.

Install the steering wheel ensuring that the drive pegs fit in their respective holes on the back of the steering wheel. After final alignment, reconnect the multi-plug to the cassette, tighten the steering wheel securing the nut and install the trim pad.
