TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN

Reference Number(s): TB/03/98/NAS, Date of Issue:  December 23, 1998
LAND ROVER: 1999 Bosch Range Rover (LP); All Discovery (LT)
AFFECTED VEHICLES: Model: Range Rover (LP) Model Year: 1999 Bosch; Model: Discovery (LT) Model Year: All
ISSUE: 1

SITUATION

In some cases the code "P1000" appears stored in the Bosch engine management controller viewed with TestBook, when other codes should be displayed. This is the result of incorrect information on the Testbook CD. A number of other codes are also being displayed incorrectly. It is necessary when one of these codes is obtained to look at BOTH the P-code and the "Rover Reference" to determine what the correct code should be.

RESOLUTION

INTERPRETATION OF INCORRECT FAULT CODES

A table has been produced as a cross-reference to correct P-codes to assist in interpretation of the information contained in the various faults which give incorrect P-codes.

The "Rover Reference" must be read as a cross-reference to the correct descriptions and fault codes.

PROCEDURE

DETERMINE THE UNDERLYING MEANING OF THE P1000 CODE

  1. Refer to Figure 1 and identify the "Rover Reference" code. Use this code to identify the underlying meaning of the "P1000" Code.
    G11567171
  2. When a "P1000" Code is found on TestBook, refer to the following table to interpret the underlying meaning of the code.
  3. If "P0122", "P0136", "P0144" or "P0177" display, refer to the following table for correct interpretation of the fault codes.
