Steering Wheel: Removal
- Remove driver-side air bag module:
- For 1999 models, see DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE .
- For 2000 models, see DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE .
- For 2001 models, see DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE .
- For 2002 models, see DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE .
- For 2003 models, see DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE .
- For 2004 models, see DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE .
- Disconnect horn multiplug. See Fig 1.
- Centralize steering wheel with road wheels in straight ahead position.
- Restrain steering wheel and loosen self locking nut securing steering wheel to column.
- Release steering wheel from column.
- Remove and discard self locking nut.
- Remove steering wheel.
- Attach tape across edge of rotary coupler to retain correct setting. See Fig 2.
- Release 2 clips securing each horn button to steering wheel. See Fig 3.
- Remove screw securing horn earth lead to steering wheel.
- Disconnect radio and cruise control multiplugs.
- Remove 2 screws securing radio switches to steering wheel.
- Remove radio switches from steering wheel.
- Remove 2 screws securing cruise control switches to steering wheel.
- Remove cruise control switches from steering wheel.
- Remove horns from steering wheel.
