Slabs Ecu Self-Diagnostics

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2000 Land Rover Discovery and 1999 Land Rover Discovery. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

While ignition is on, diagnostics function of Self Leveling and Anti-Lock Brake System Electronic Control Unit (SLABS ECU) monitors system for faults. Return pump is tested by briefly pulsing it immediately after engine starts if vehicle speed was more than 5 MPH during previous ignition cycle. If a fault exists in a warning light circuit, the light will not illuminate during bulb check when ignition is turned on. But if there are no faults, systems will remain fully functional. If a fault is detected during power up, SLABS ECU stores a fault code in memory and illuminates appropriate warning lights. If fault is detected after power up, SLABS ECU will also sound chime 3 times.
