Ignition Timing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Land Rover Range Rover, 2002 Land Rover Freelander, and 2002 Land Rover Discovery. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: On Discovery and Range Rover, ignition timing is controlled by Bosch Motronic M5.2.1 engine management system through the ECM and is not adjustable. Ignition timing is adjusted for each cylinder based on engine load, speed and temperature, knock control, automatic gearbox shift control and idle speed control. Nominal value for a warm engine at idle is 12° BTDC. Always refer to SERVICE INFORMATION underhood label in engine compartment. If underhood label and lemon-25(R) specifications differ, always use underhood label specifications.
NOTE: On Freelander, ignition timing is controlled by Siemens MS43 engine management system.

(1) Idle speed and timing are computer controlled and are not adjustable.
(2) Expected value of ignition timing at normal operating temperature.
(3) Ignition timing is not adjustable.
