CONDITION SUMMARY:
INCORRECTLY ASSEMBLED "MOST" LEAD CONNECTORS
Some of the link leads supplied within the MOST tester kit (415-005) have been manufactured incorrectly. An incorrectly manufactured link will no complete the MOST ring and therefore not permit proper diagnostics. This tool was issued as part of the LR3 kit LR-100-P2 - General Tool Kit.
Action: It is possible to inspect for the fault and if necessary correct the cable orientation of the link lead by reorienting the lead connectors. Refer to the Repair Procedure in this bulletin.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
CORRECTLY ORIENT CONNECTOR HOUSING
- Inspect connectors to identify whether action is required as follows:
- Place the link lead on a clean surface.
- Remove the dust covers from both link lead connector housings.
- Verify that the directional arrows on the connector housings are aligned in the same direction. (Fig 1 )
- If the link lead connector arrows are correctly aligned , install the dust covers. No further action is required.
NOTE: Either of the connector housings (but only one) can be rotated to ensure the correct arrow alignment is obtained. - If the link lead connector arrows are not assembled in the same direction, perform the following corrective steps on one end of the cable:
- Using a small screwdriver, carefully displace and remove the connector housing locking device. (Fig 2
)
CAUTION: Use of excessive force will damage the connector housing when releasing the cable retaining clips.
- Release the optical cable retaining clips sufficiently to extract the cables. (Fig 3
)CAUTION: Touching or allowing contact with foreign materials such as dirt or grease will contaminate the end of the optical cable and will impair the cable's performance.
- Remove both optical cables from the connector housing, exercising care to avoid contamination of the cable end. (Fig 4 )
- Rotate the connector housing 180° to the correct orientation. (Fig 5 )
- Install and fully engage the optical cables into the connector housing.
- Lock both optical cable retaining clips.
- Install the connector housing locking device. (Fig 6 )
- Using a small screwdriver, carefully displace and remove the connector housing locking device. (Fig 2
)
- Verify correct connector orientation. (As shown in Fig 1 )
- Install the dust covers to both connector housings.
