CONDITION SUMMARY

CONTAMINATED SEAT AIRBAG CONNECTOR GENERATES FAULT CODES

On investigation using the Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS), the restraint control module may be found to have one or more of the following faults:

B0020-1A
B0020-1B
B0020-11
B0020-12
B0028-1A
B0028-1B
B0028-11
B0028-12

Cause: The above fault codes are a result of contaminated front seat air bag connectors. The connector is part of the airbag module so any contamination requires replacement of the module.

Action: Should any of the above fault codes be present in the Restraint Control Module (RCM), refer to the Service Instruction detailed in this bulletin to replace the related seat air bag.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

REPLACE SEAT AIRBAG WHEN INDICATED

Refer to GTR Workshop Manual Section 501-20B, Supplemental Restraint System - Side Air Bag Module (76.74.30) and replace the relevant front seat side air bag module.
Clear any stored fault codes within the RCM using T4/WDS.
