Anti-Theft System: Description

WARNING: Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article. DO NOT apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.

If one of the following conditions occurs when anti-theft system is set (armed), system disables starter, locks all doors, flashes headlights and taillights, and sounds alarm. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 .

Door, trunk lid or hood is forcibly opened.
Battery cable is disconnected then reconnected.
