System Tests: Speedometer

  1. Connect Lexus Hand-Held Tester (scan tool) to DLC3 connector. Turn ignition on. Turn on scan tool and select ACTIVE TEST. If speedometer tests properly, proceed to next test listed in GAUGE TEST INDEX  table. If speedometer does not operate properly or scan tool is not available, go to next step.
  2. Check speedometer. See SPEEDOMETER  under COMPONENT TESTS. Check instrument cluster circuit plate. See CIRCUIT PLATE  under PIN VOLTAGE TESTS. Check instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CIRCUIT  under PIN VOLTAGE TESTS. Repair or replace as necessary.
