Position Sensor Circuit Test

  1. Connect Lexus Hand-Held Tester (scan tool) to Data Link Connector 3 (DLC3). Put scan tool in DATALIST mode. Operate power seat switch while monitoring scan tool. Position sensor value should change as seat moves. Motor status should change from OFF to ON when switch is operated. When seat reaches range limit, motor status should change to LOCK. If scan tool is not available or scan tool information is not as specified, go to next step. If scan tool information is as specified and memory does not operate, replace ECU.
  2. Check position sensor. See POSITION SENSOR TEST  under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace sensor as necessary. All sensors are integral to motors, except headrest position sensors. If sensor is okay, check circuits between ECU and sensor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair as necessary. If circuits and switch are okay, replace ECU.
