Pattern Select Switch
- Check pattern select switch light operation. Turn ignition on. Ensure pattern select switch (PWR) indicator light is on when switch is pushed to ON position. Ensure PWR indicator light is off when switch is pushed to OFF position. If indicator light operates as described, go to next step. If indicator light does not operate as described, inspect and repair wiring harness as necessary. If wiring harness is okay, replace indicator bulb.
- Turn ignition on. Using a DVOM, backprobe ECM connector. Measure voltage between terminal PWR at ECM harness connector and ground. See Figure or Figure . Voltage should be 1.5 volts with pattern select switch in PWR position. Voltage should be 7.5-14 volts or less with pattern select switch in NORMAL position. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step. If voltage is as specified, inspect and repair wiring harness between pattern select switch and ECM. If wiring harness is okay, replace pattern select switch.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect pattern select switch connector. Using ohmmeter, ensure continuity exists between switch connector terminals No. 3 and 5 with switch in PWR position. See Figure. No continuity should exist with switch in NORM position. If continuity is not as specified, replace pattern select switch. If continuity is as specified, inspect and repair wiring harness between battery and pattern select switch, and between pattern select switch and ECM. If wiring harness is okay, replace ECM and retest.
