System Operation Check

  1. Turn ignition switch to ON position, with engine off. AIR BAG light on instrument panel should come on for about 5 seconds and then go off. If AIR BAG light fails to come on, remains on after 5 seconds, or comes on while driving, air bag system requires servicing.
  2. If passenger side air bag is switched off by the child restraint system, or if an installed child restraint system is detected when the ignition is turned on, the AIR BAG warning light flashes for 10 seconds when the ignition is turned on. If the light does NOT flash, the child restraint system should not be used.
