Test K: Multi-Information Display Screen Does Not Change When Steering Pad Switch Is Operated

- Check the combination meter assembly:
- Check the voltage. Remove the combination meter assembly with the connector still connected. See Fig 1. Turn the ignition switch to ON. Measure the voltage between terminal No. C8-18 of the combination meter assembly connector and body ground. See COMBINATION METER STANDARD VOLTAGE table. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION .COMBINATION METER STANDARD VOLTAGE
Condition Voltage MODE Switch Is Pressed Zero MODE Switch Is Not Pressed 5 RESET Switch Is Pressed 2.5 RESET Switch Is Not Pressed 5 - If the voltage is OK, check and replace the combination meter assembly. See COMBINATION METER SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If the voltage is not OK, go to the next step.
- Check the voltage. Remove the combination meter assembly with the connector still connected. See Fig 1. Turn the ignition switch to ON. Measure the voltage between terminal No. C8-18 of the combination meter assembly connector and body ground. See COMBINATION METER STANDARD VOLTAGE table. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION .
- Inspect the steering pad switch:
- Remove the steering pad switch. Check the resistance between terminals +DP and -DP of the steering pad switch connector. See STEERING PAD SWITCH RESISTANCE table. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION .STEERING PAD SWITCH RESISTANCE
Switch Condition Resistance MODE Switch Is Pressed Below 1 Ω MODE Switch Is Not Pressed OPEN RESET Switch Is Pressed 2.2 kΩ RESET Switch Is Not Pressed OPEN - If the resistance is OK, repair or replace the wiring harness or connector. If the resistance is not OK, replace the steering pad switch. See step 5 of COMBINATION METER SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Remove the steering pad switch. Check the resistance between terminals +DP and -DP of the steering pad switch connector. See STEERING PAD SWITCH RESISTANCE table. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION .
