System Operation Check

NOTE: Trouble shooting of the anti-theft system is based on the premise that the door lock control system is operating normally. Accordingly, before trouble shooting the anti-theft system, first make certain that the door lock control system is operating normally. If the power door locks do not function properly, repair doors locks. See POWER DOOR LOCKS, TRUNK LID & FUEL DOOR RELEASE article.
  1. Trouble shooting of an anti-theft system complaint begins with verification of the customer problem. Perform customer problem analysis check (anti-theft system). See Fig 1.
  2. Confirm problem symptom by performing the following steps. Open all the windows.
  3. Set the anti-theft system. See SETTING (ARMING) ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM  under PROGRAMMING. The front doors should be locked with the ignition key or wireless remote control. Be sure to wait until the indicator light starts flashing.
  4. Unlock one of the doors from the inside. The system should activate the alarm.
  5. Unlock any of the doors with a key or the wireless remote control to cancel the system.
  6. Repeat this operation for the other doors and hood. When testing the hood, also check that the system is activated when the battery terminal is disconnected and then reconnected.
  7. If symptom does not occur, try to simulate the symptom. If the symptom occurs, go to ANTI-THEFT SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS.
