Brake Actuator Assembly
NOTE:
Please refer to LEXUS hand-held tester operator's manual for further details.
- Connect hand-held tester to the (DLC3). See Figure.
- Start engine and run it at idle.
- Using hand-held tester, select ACTIVE TEST mode.
- Using tester, command motor relay On. Check for ABS actuator motor operation noise.
- Turn the ABS motor relay Off. Depress brake pedal and hold it for about 15 seconds. Check that brake pedal cannot be depressed.
- With ABS motor relay On, check that brake pedal does not pulsate.
- Turn ABS motor relay off and release brake pedal.
- Depress brake pedal. command SFRH and SFRR solenoids On simultaneously, and check that the pedal cannot be depressed. This will check the right front wheel operation.
- Turn the SFRH and SFRR solenoids off simultaneously. Check that brake pedal can now be depressed.
- Turn ABS motor relay On and check that brake pedal returns.
- Turn ABS motor relay Off and release brake pedal.
- Repeat steps 8- 11 to check the solenoids of the other wheels. As displayed on tester screen, the left front wheel is SFLH, SFLR. The right rear wheel is SRRH, SRRR. The left rear wheel is SRLH, SRLR.
- If test results are abnormal, check hydraulic circuit for leakage. See DISC article.
CAUTION:
Do not keep ABS motor relay On for more than 5 seconds continuously. Turn off for an interval of 20 seconds between On times.
NOTE:
Never turn on a solenoid which is not listed.
