Description & Operation

WARNING: Vehicles are equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting any repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.

The body control system consists of 2 separate Electronic Control Units (ECUs). The body ECU No. 1 controls anti-theft, power door locks, remote keyless entry (wireless controls), luggage compartment door opener and passenger's seat belt warning indicator. The body ECU No. 2 controls light auto turn off, automatic light control, illuminated entry, key reminder, fog light, driver seat belt warning indicator, brake fluid level warning indicator and clock.
