Power Mirror Position Sensor
NOTE:
On vehicles with driving position memory only.
- Inspect the mirror position sensors operation. Strip off the vinyl tape of the connector and remove terminals No. 1, 2, 6, 8, 9, 10 and 11 from the connector housing. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION .
- Connect a series of three 1.5 V dry cell batteries. Connect the positive (+) lead from the dry cell batteries to terminal No. 8 and the negative (-) lead to terminal No. 11.
- Connect the positive (+) lead from the voltmeter to terminal No. 9 and the negative (-) lead to terminal No. 11. Apply battery positive voltage to terminals No. 2 and No. 6, then check that the voltage gradually changes according to the table below while the mirror moves between the uppermost position and lowermost position. See INSPECTING POWER MIRROR POSITION SENSORS VOLTAGE (UP & DOWN) table. If voltage value is not as specified, replace the motor assembly. See OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.INSPECTING POWER MIRROR POSITION SENSORS VOLTAGE (UP & DOWN)
Mirror Position Voltage Lowermost 2.8-5.0 Volts Uppermost 0-1.8 Volts - Disconnect the 4 leads of the battery and voltmeter. Connect the positive (+) lead from the voltmeter to terminal No. 10 and negative (-) lead to terminal No. 11. Apply battery positive voltage to terminals No. 1 and No. 2, then inspect that the voltage gradually changes according to the table below while the mirror moves between the left-most position and right-most position. See INSPECTING POWER MIRROR POSITION SENSORS VOLTAGE (LEFT & RIGHT) table. If voltage is not as specified, replace the motor assembly. See OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.INSPECTING POWER MIRROR POSITION SENSORS VOLTAGE (LEFT & RIGHT)
