Automatic Key Registration
NOTE:
If all the registered master keys have been lost, you are not able to do additional registration or deletion. Change the ECM and then register the new key codes according to the following registration procedure of the automatic registration mode.
NOTE:
This procedure MUST BE performed ONLY when NEW Engine Control Module (ECM) is installed. New ECM is in automatic registration mode upon receipt. Up to 3 ignition key identification codes may be registered in ECM memory. In automatic registration mode, the last ignition key to be registered becomes the sub-key.
NOTE:
Master keys are Black-colored ignition keys that open all locks. Sub-keys are Gray-colored ignition keys that DO NOT open glove compartment or luggage compartment (trunk).
- Register a new transponder key.
- For new transponder key registration steps, refer to flowchart. See Fig 1.
- When a key is not inserted in the key cylinder in the automatic registration mode, the security indicator always lights on. When the immobilizer system operates normally and the key is pulled out, the security indicator blinks. See Fig 2. When the key code registration could not be performed in the automatic registration mode, code 2-1 is output from the security indicator. And when inserting the already registered key, code 2-2 is output.
- Complete the automatic registration mode. If completing the mode forcibly when more than 1 key code has been registered on the automatic registration mode, perform the following procedures.
- Depress and release the brake pedal 5 times or more within 15 seconds.
- With the hand-held tester, require the automatic registration mode completion.
