Without Hand-Held Tester

  1. Disconnect short pin from (DLC1). See Fig 1.
  2. Using special tool (09843-18020), jumper between terminals Tc and E1 of (DLC1). See Fig 2.
  3. Turn ignition switch to ON. Read DTCs from ABS warning light flashing patterns on combination meter. For flashing patterns of normal and codes 11 and 21, see Fig 3.
  4. If any DTCs are retrieved, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS .
  5. If 2 or more DTCs are indicated at the same time the lowest numbered DTC will be displayed first.
  6. If no DTCs are stored in memory, inspect the diagnostic circuit or ABS warning light circuit. Perform appropriate test under SYSTEM TESTING .
  7. After completing the check, disconnect jumper wire and install short pin.
