Power Steering Gear: Installation
- Install sliding yoke sub-assembly.
- Align the matchmarks on the sliding yoke sub-assembly and control valve shaft.
- Install the bolt.
- Torque: 35 N.m (360 kgf.cm, 26 ft.lbf)

- Install PS gear assembly.
- Install the PS gear assembly with the 2 nuts.
- Torque: 118 N.m (1200 kgf.cm, 87 ft.lbf)
CAUTION: Do not damage the turn pressure tubes. - Connect the PPS solenoid connector.
- Install the PS gear assembly with the 2 nuts.
- Connect pressure feed tube.
- Install a new gasket, then connect the pressure feed tube with the union bolt.
- Connect return tube.
- Install new gasket on each side of the return tube and connect the return tube with the union bolt.
- Torque: 49 N.m (500 kgf.cm, 36 ft.lbf)
- Connect sliding yoke sub-assembly. See step 5 under INSTALLATION.
- Connect RH and LH tie rod ends.
- Install engine under cover.
- Install the engine under cover with the 9 bolts, 6 screws and 2 clips.
- Place front wheels facing straight ahead.NOTE: Do it with the front of the vehicle jacked up.
- Center spiral cable. See step 3 under INSTALLATION.
- Install steering wheel.
- Align the matchmarks on the steering wheel and main shaft.
- Temporarily tighten the wheel set nut.
- Connect the connector.
- Bleed power steering system. See BLEEDING .
- Check steering wheel center point.
- Torque steering wheel set nut.
- Torque: 50 N.m (510 kgf.cm, 37 ft.lbf)
- Install steering wheel pad. See step 15 under INSTALLATION.
- Check front wheel alignment. See ALIGNMENT SPEICIFCATIONS & PROCEDURES in 2002 WHEEL ALIGNMENT article.
