Power Tilt And Power Telescopic Steering Column: Installation
- Install steering pad switch modulator.
- Install the steering pad switch modulator with the 4 bolts.
- Install No. 2 intermediate shaft assembly.
- Align the matchmarks on the No. 2 intermediate shaft assembly and main shaft assembly.
- Install the bolt.
- Torque: 35 N.m (360 kgf.cm, 26 ft.lbf)
- Install spiral cable, combination switch and column upper cover.
- Install the spiral cable.
- Install the combination switch with the 2 screws.
- Install the column upper cover.
- Install steering column assembly.
- Install the intermediate shaft dust cover.
- Install the steering column assembly with the 4 column assembly set nuts.
- Torque: 25 N.m (260 kgf.cm, 19 ft.lbf)
- Install the return spring.
- Connect the No. 2 column hole cover sub-assembly.
- Torque the clamp.
- Connect the connectors.
- Install sliding yoke sub-assembly.
- Align the matchmarks on the sliding yoke sub-assembly and control valve shaft.
- Install the sliding yoke sub-assembly with the 2 bolts.
- Torque: 35 N.m (360 kgf.cm, 26 ft.lbf)
- Install the LH front fender apron with bolt and clip.
- Install the return spring.
- Tighten the clamp.
- Connect the No. 2 column hole cover.
- Connect the connectors.
- Install air sealed plate.
- With Smart Key system: connect steering lock switch and actuator.
- Connect the steering lock switch and actuator with the 3 bolts.
- Connect the connectors.
- Install no. 5 heater to register duct.
- Install the No. 5 heater to register duct with the clip.
- Install column lower cover.
- Install the column lower cover with the 3 screws.
- Install No. 1 safety pad.
- Connect the connectors and clamps.
- Install the No. 1 safety pad.
- Connect the engine hood release lever with the 2 screws.
- Install finish plate.
- Install No. 1 under cover.
- Connect the 2 connectors and DLC3.
- Install the No. 1 under cover with the 2 screws.
- Center spiral cable.
- Check that the front wheels are facing straight ahead.
- Turn the cable counterclockwise by hand until it becomes harder to turn.
- Then rotate the cable clockwise about 2.5 turns to align the marks.NOTE: The cable will rotate about 2.5 turns to either left or right of the center.
- Install steering wheel.
- Align the matchmarks on the steering wheel and main shaft assembly.
- Install the steering wheel set nut.
- Torque: 50 N.m (510 kgf.cm, 37 ft.lbf)
- Connect the connectors.
- Install steering wheel pad.CAUTION:
- Never use airbag parts from another vehicle. When replacing parts, replace with new ones.
- Make sure the wheel pad is installed with the specified torque.
- If the wheel pad has been dropped, or there are cracks, dents or other defects on the case or connector, replace the wheel pad with a new one.
- When installing the wheel pad, take care that the wirings do not interfere with other parts and that they are not pinched between other parts.
- Connect the airbag connectors.
- Connect the connector.
- Install the steering wheel pad after confirming that the circumference groove of the torque screws is caught on the screw case.
- Using a torx socket wrench, torx the 2 screws.
- Torque: 8.8 N.m (90 kgf.cm, 78 in.lbf)
- Install the pad switch modulator cover steering wheel lower No. 2 cover.
- Check steering wheel center point.
- Inspect SRS warning light. See SRS WARNING LIGHT .
