Park/Neutral Position Switch: Installation

Install PNP switch using the following steps:
1. Install PNP switch and temporarily install bolt.
2. Install new lock plate and nut.
3. Temporarily install shift lever with nut. See Fig 2.
4. Turn lever counterclockwise until it stops, then turn it clockwise 2 notches. See Fig 3.
5. Remove shift lever.
6. Align groove neutral basic line.
7. Hold switch in position and tighten bolt to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
8. Using screwdriver, stake nut with lock plate.
Install nut and shift lever with shift rod and connect PNP switch connector.
Temporarily install shift rod to gearshift lever with nut.
Adjust shift lever position. See SHIFT LEVER under ADJUSTMENTS.
Install 4 bolts and front floor heat insulator No. 1.
Install exhaust pipe with 4 bolts, nuts and 2 new gaskets to exhaust manifold. See Fig 1. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
Install oxygen sensor.
Install right and left rear suspension member braces and frame spacers with 2 bolts.
Install front floor brace center with 2 bolts. Tighten to specification.
Inspect shift lever position. See SHIFT LEVER under ADJUSTMENTS.
Check PNP switch operation. See PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH under ADJUSTMENTS.
Check exhaust gas leak.
