Park/Neutral Position Switch: Installation

  1. Installing park/neutral position switch:
    1. Install park/neutral position switch on manual valve shaft hand tighten 2 retaining bolts. See Figure.
    2. Install a new lock plate and nut. Tighten nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
    3. Adjust park/neutral position switch. See PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH  under ADJUSTMENTS.
    4. Bend claws on lock plate to stake nut. See Fig 1.
    5. Install nut and washer to transaxle control shaft lever . See Fig 2. Tighten nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
    6. Install transaxle control shift cable and nut. See Figure. Tighten nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
    7. Install control cable and a NEW clip to bracket.
  2. Connect park/neutral position switch connector.
  3. Inspect and adjust shift lever position. See SHIFT LEVER POSITION  under ADJUSTMENTS.
  4. Verify correct park/neutral position switch operation. See PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH  under ADJUSTMENTS.
  5. Install engine undercover No. 1.
  6. Install air intake resonator sub-assembly. Tighten bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  7. Install air cleaner inlet No. 1. Tighten bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  8. Install air cleaner bracket. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  9. Install air cleaner hose No. 1. See Figure.
  10. Install air cleaner assembly. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  11. Install battery. Tighten bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
