Park/Neutral Position Switch: Removal

  1. Raise and support vehicle.
  2. Remove engine under cover.
  3. Remove front and center exhaust pipe using the following steps:
    1. Disconnect heated oxygen sensor, or 2 sensors if equipped.
    2. Remove 2 bolts and front floor center brace.
    3. On models equipped with 3.0L engine, remove 3 bolts, nuts and 2 gaskets to disconnect front exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold. On models equipped with 4.3L engine, remove 4 bolts, nuts and 2 gaskets from right and left front TWC. See Figure and Figure .
    4. On all models, remove 2 bolts and pipe support bracket.
    5. Remove 4 bolts and 2 gaskets from tail pipe.
    6. Disconnect front and center exhaust pipe from "O" ring and remove it.
  4. Remove 2 heat insulators.
  5. Disconnect PNP switch connector.
  6. Remove PNP switch using the following steps:
    1. Remove nut and shift lever.
    2. Use screwdriver to pry off lock washer.
    3. Remove bolt and pull out PNP switch. See Figure.
